Christmas Spirit

I was working in Austin’s class this morning. Afterwards, I walked by Ally’s class and asked how her homework went…

Her homework was to talk about family holiday traditions, draw a large picture and be prepared to get up in front of the class to talk about it. We had a really busy weekend, but stayed up late working on the picture and finished it in the elevator this morning! We talked about a star or angel on the tree, turkey dinner and papas and choirizo for breakfast, wearing santa hats, collecting ornaments etc.

So I was surprised when the teacher started crying telling me about Ally’s presentation. She got up there and said in a poetic way that Christmas is not about the presents, the trees, etc. It’s about the love you feel for each other right here - -pointing to her heart.

The teacher said it was the best presentation she’d ever seen. It’s amazing as I am running around trying to get Christmas cards and to do lists done that my 6 year old can have such a clear perspective.
